A lying-in-state which had been planned for the former governor at Democracy Park in Akure before was botched as the ill-fated plane conveying his body and some others crashed in Lagos this morning.
The venue of the planned lying-in-state was deserted and the city of Akure thrown into mourning with residents gathering in groups apparently discussing the unfortunate incident.
The Ondo state government has also reacted to the plane crash saying it has received with shock the news of the crash of the plane bearing the corpse of the former governor of Ondo state, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, as it was taking off from Lagos.
An Ondo state commissioner, Late Agagu’s family members, associates and other top government officials were also involved in the crash.
The Ondo state government has described the incident as an unfortunate disaster in the life of the state. The government however asks all residents to be in a sober and prayerful mood at this time.
